About Us
Bangladesh Muaythai Association (BMA) is the official national body promoting and developing the art and sport of Muay Thai across Bangladesh. Founded in 2015, our mission is to bring the spirit of Muay Thai to every corner of the country—from local gyms to the global stage.
Muay Thai, known as the “Art of Eight Limbs,” is more than a combat sport. It is a lifestyle rooted in discipline, tradition, respect, and strength. At BMA, we believe in these values, and we pass them on to every athlete, student, coach, and fan who becomes part of our community.

Our Leadership Team
Nazel Islam
Director at Jamuna Group of Industries. Nazel brings business acumen and leadership to the organization, but above all, he has an extreme love for the sport of Muaythai. His passion drives his commitment to firmly establish Muaythai in Bangladesh and elevate it to the global stage.

Atiqur Rahman Sazib
Responsible for overseeing all financial matters, Atiqur ensures fiscal responsibility, transparency, and sustainable growth for the association.

Asif Mahmood
A driving force behind the federation's training programs, Asif combines administrative leadership with professional coaching to uphold the highest standards in Muaythai.

Tanver Ahamead Emon
Tanver specializes in marketing strategies, branding, and promotion. He also plays a key role in organizing and managing events, helping to elevate Muay thai's profile nationally.

Mehedi Hassan Polok
Polok brings strong organizational skills to the team, handling event logistics and operations to ensure smooth execution of tournaments, seminars, and training sessions.

Our Journey and Achievements
2008 – The Beginning
The roots of Muay Thai in Bangladesh took hold in Shahid Dr. Fazle Rabbi Park, Gulshan, Dhaka, where early practitioners began open-air training sessions. These grassroots efforts laid the foundation for what would become a national movement.
2013 – First International Appearance
Bangladeshi fighters made their debut on the global stage at the International & Thai Martial Arts Games & Festival in Bangkok, Thailand, earning recognition and valuable international experience.
2016–2018 – Stepping Into the World Arena
2016: Competed in the World Martial Arts Championship in Delhi, India.
2017: Represented Bangladesh at the World MAC Games in the United Kingdom.
2018: Participated in the World Martial Arts Championship in Manama, Bahrain.
These consistent appearances solidified Bangladesh’s place in the global Muay Thai community.
2019 – A Landmark Year
Hosted the 1st National Muay Thai Championship at Mohammad Ali Stadium, Dhaka—a major milestone for domestic growth.
Sent fighters to the IFMA Asian Muay Thai Championship in Abu Dhabi, where Bangladesh gained regional recognition and earned a gold medal through rising star Masjedul Reza Omeo.
2023 – East Asian Muay thai Championship
Bangladesh competed at the East Asian Muay thai Championship in Hong Kong, proving the country’s growing competitiveness in Asia’s toughest circuits.
2024 – Honoring Tradition, Expanding Impact
Officially celebrated International Muaythai Day at Vanquish Combat Gym, Dhaka, joining the global community in honoring Muay Thai’s cultural legacy.
Returned to the East Asian Muaythai Championship for a second consecutive year, marking sustained commitment to elite-level competition.
Global Recognition
BMA operates in alignment with the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) and upholds the values recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Muay Thai is now a fully recognized Olympic sport discipline, and BMA is proud to contribute to this global advancement.
